What's a dog ramp?

Dog ramps are basically just a way to keep your dog from getting injured as it gets onto a table to be groomed or gets into a car. For bigger dogs, this can be a must - most people can't lift a 100 pound dog on their own. With a ramp, however, you can nudge them up it even if they're resisting you somewhat. That can be essential for getting your dog to go into the car to go to the vet. It can also prevent injuries to the dog - if it starts to fight you while you're lifting it, it could drop and get hurt. On dog ramps, this is not a problem.

Here are a few options you can go with:

SOLVIT Telescoping Ramps are $94.99 and are available online here.

This is a slide-out version that can hold up to 300 pounds. You can compact it to make it smaller for when you're traveling with it, or to adjust it to whatever the length that the dog has to climb. It's good for older or injured dogs as well, if they like to sleep on the furniture or bed but can't jump up anymore.

Halfstep Dog Ramp - This is available here for $54.99. This one can hold up to 500 pounds, so you can use it for bigger dogs or if you want to go up the ramp with the dog. The surface is textured with little bumped lines so that the dog can get a grip on it easier. The only problem is it's not long enough for trucks or big SUV's.
