What to do about Flea Bites
Human flea bites can be utterly aggravating. They are often the reason people decide to get rid of fleas in the first place - you only notice the problem when it hits you at home. One of the major problems with any flea control remedy is that it will take awhile - you're just going to have to wait for a bit to get rid of all of them, and most people don't want to deal with the itching and scratching in the meantime. This page will let you know how to minimize the discomfort of the bites while you're waiting.
While you can't control the fleas instantly, you can adopt several preventative measures to avoid bites in the mean time. They are extremely annoying - they cause itchy, raised bumps that can be extremely aggravating. You can try a number of ways to minimize the discomfort:
First, wear socks everywhere around the house. Fleas generally live on the floor, and they can only jump about two feet. While you're waiting for your flea control to work, you can make sure that they don't bite you on the legs or ankles, which are the most common places to get bites.
Second, wash your bedding in hot water several times. Anything you sleep on is fair game for fleas, and especially if you have a dog or cat who likes to jump on the bed with you. Bites at nighttime can be particularly annoying - you wake up with itches all over, and there's little you can do about it once you're asleep.
Third, if it makes you feel better, apply lotions to your bites. It won't heal them, but it might ease the itching. Realistically, you're just going to have to wait for a few weeks for the flea control to work and the flea life cycle to pass. To get rid of the fleas in the first place, try Frontline or Advantage on your pets, or look around the guide for a number of other ways to eliminate flea problems.
