Nemex 2 Wormer
Nemex 2 is a wormer, which means it is a liquid given to a dog or a puppy to deworm it. It kills roundworms and hookworms using a chemical called pyrantel pamoate, which is a drug that damages the nervous system of worms, paralyzing them so that they eventually die. It's often given to puppies because they usually pick up parasites and worms from their mother - the mother may have been able to control the parasites as an adult dog with a stronger immune system, but a puppy will be at risk of more serious infestation. You should keep in mind, however, that this doesn't prevent heartworms - it's more for using when your dog or puppy already has worms, rather than to prevent them. Nemex is made by Pfizer.
Is it safe? Are there any side effects?
Yes, it is generally safe, but even though it's sold over the counter, it is best to consult your vet about it before using it. As far as side effects, a small number of dogs will vomit after taking it, but otherwise there aren't any common side effects. However, you should usually avoid giving it to animals that are sick. Also make sure you're sticking to the suggested doses.
